The long awaited “OFFICIAL” NCSU WBB thread posting to get things started now that we are nearing the end of the summer and starting into the fall semester.

Let’s start with the “new faces” on the team with the true first year players.

Zoe Brooks – She is a 5’10” guard coming to State from Plainfield, New Jersey. She was the most highly ranked player in our outstanding recruiting class this season as the #4 guard and #9 overall player as ranked by ESPN (97 grade / 5-star). She was named to the Naismith Girls HS BB and McDonalds All-American teams. She will be wearing #35.

Mallory Collier – She is a 6’3” post player coming to the Pack from Millington, Tennessee as the #55 ranked player by ESPN out of the 2023 class. She was a multiple time nominee and finalist for the Tennessee Miss Basketball and Gatorade POY from the state.

Maddie Cox – A 6’2” freshman forward coming to Raleigh from Flower Mound, Texas. She was ranked the #71 player by ESPN. She is the sister of Lauren Cox who was an All-American for the Baylor Bears and played on their national championship team. By most accounts Maddie is a very versatile player who can play inside and outside from the forward position and has good ball handling skills. She is slotted to wear jersey #11.

Alyssa Lewis – A 5’-7” freshman guard from Harrisburg, North Carolina joins the team as a preferred walk-on and is slotted to wear the #4 jersey. [Update on 11/03/2023 - Indications are that Lewis will take a red-shirt for the 2023/2024 season]

Laci Steele – A 5’11” freshman guard from Guthrie, Oklahoma joins the team and is slotted to wear #24. She was ranged the #56 player in the class by ESPN and was named Oklahoma Gatorade POY and AAU POY.

Again the transfer portal has been good for the Pack this season for inbound players.

Katie Peneueta – A 6’-2” junior guard is from Vancouver, Washington, is coming to the play for us after several seasons at Sacramento State University. As a freshman at Sac-State she played in 22 games and started in 21 of those games as a true freshman and averaged 8.7 PPG and 4.6 RPG while shooting 46.3% from 3FG range (56/121). Her sophom*ore season she was a very well rounded player contributing 8.4 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 2.- APG, and 1.4 BPG while starting 27 (of 33 games) and averaging 35+ MPG playing time and shooting 45.5% from 3FG. Slotted to wear #20.

Lizzy Williamson – A 6’-5” graduate student transfer from Adelaide Australia via several seasons playing in Utah having played for Southern Utah for several seasons and with a redshirt freshman season with Utah State. Averaged 9.8 PPG / 8.1 RPG in 21/22 season playing in 29 games and starting 22 games. Averaged 9.6 PPG / 10 RPG (along with 2.3 BPG) in 22/23 with 11 double-double performances and 16 double digit scoring games. She was named the WAC DPOY last season for Southern Utah. Williamson is slotted to wear #15.

    And for returning players:

#1 - River Baldwin (Graduate Student)
#2 – Mimi Collins (Graduate Student)
    #10 – Aziaha James (Junior)
    #21 – Madison Hayes (Senior)
    #22 – Saniya Rivers (Junior)

The team will transition with the losses of Diamond Johnson (transfer); Jakia Brown-Turner (transfer for CV19 season); Camille Hobby (transfer for CV19 season) and Jada Boyd (eligibility for “CV19 Season” but doesn’t appear to have transferred).

The season starts with an exhibition game in Reynolds on Thursday, November 2nd and the regular season starts on Tuesday, November 7th against the UNC-Charlotte 49er squad as a warm-up for a home match with (surely to be a highly ranked) UCONN on Sunday, November 13th.

    Season tickets are SOLD OUT.

Article on Alabama WBB. The team features Sarah Ashlee Barker who smoked us when she was with Georgia, Loyal McQueen, Jessica Timmons and Reychel Douglas out of Millbrook High. No mention of Jada Rice who appears to have one year of eligibility left.

Humm a #7 recruit a Tennessee HS senior commits to Clemson. How did our staff miss her? Were we even in the running" I hope we can land #14 Jones from NC. This is crucial to get at least 1 in the top 100. Hoping we still are recruiting #2 Sarah Strong. We need her.

I don't see where we were seriously involved. Clemson won this one from Tennessee. UCONN, SC, and Louisville also offered. Our top targets are still Strong and Jones.

Interesting since coach Moore used to coach in TN and should be able to recruit the area well.

Her AAU coach has been pushing her toward Clemson for quite a while. Even the UT fans are not really surprised, hopeful but not surprised.

Apparently, the last series was for the conference championship. This series is for the League championship. Game 1 between Fuerza Regia and Adelitas Del Estado De Chihuahua.
