Why Simplify Your Life?
If I could go back in time and learn a lesson over, “keep things simple” would be the one. That’s because I've spent a good part of my life rushing, saying 'yes', multi-tasking, living in organized chaos and I have now learned that a simple life is a good life. This doesn’t mean you can’t be a little extra or enjoy things or experiences that are special. It’s more about your everyday life. Build a life with happy memories, not things. Most people make their lives so much harder than needed. Life is short! Life can change in a matter of a second. Simplifying your life will allow you enjoy the simple things. To quote my late stepdad: "Have a little bit of fun every day!!"
How to Get Started
Why do you want to simplify your life? That's easy. Living simply will allow for more time, energy, and money to live your best life! Where do you start? Make a list of what's important to you. List 4-5 things that you want in your life. Here are mine: Be a good spouse, Connect with my family and friends, Have a job - no...a purpose - doing something that I love, Have a financial plan - not for wealth, but for comfort, Travel. Never allow waiting to become a habit. Live your dreams and take risks. Life is happening now.
Declutter Your Space
Get rid of things that no longer serve you. Decluttering can be an overwhelming task, but it can also be incredibly rewarding. Here are some tips to help you get started:
Start small: Rather than trying to tackle your entire home at once, start with one area or room. For example, begin with your closet or kitchen cabinets.
Divide and conquer: Once you've chosen an area to declutter, divide the items into three piles: keep, donate/sell, and throw away. Be honest with yourself about what you really need and what you can let go of.
Use the "one year" rule: If you haven't used or worn something in the past year, it's time to let it go.
Stay organized: Once you've decluttered, make sure to keep things organized. Invest in storage solutions like baskets or shelves to help keep things in their place. When you bring in something new, kick something out.
Own Your Time
Taking charge of your time is an essential skill that can help you achieve your goals and increase productivity. Here are some tips that can help you take control of your time:
Create a schedule: Allocate specific times for tasks and activities, and stick to them as much as possible.
Create a To-Do list: Knowing what you need to-do on any given day will help you own your time and your schedule.
Learn to say no: Saying yes to every request can leave you with little time for your own priorities. Learn to say no politely when you need to.
Set Boundaries: Identify, communicate, and enforce boundaries. Know what your boundaries are and clearly communicate them.
Set Goals
Setting specific goals can help you prioritize tasks and manage your time better. Goals give you direction, purpose, and motivation to achieve what you want in life. They help you prioritize your time, focus your energy, and measure your progress.
Take Charge of Your Money
Taking charge of your money means you can track your accounts, income, and expenses better, pay your bills on time, and enjoy less financial stress! Here are 4 easy ways to get started:
