Endwalker tier COMPLETELY UPDATED. At older parts of guide? OPEN THIS

Finally, the L80 to L90 portion of the BTN/MIN Leveling Guides are 100% complete and current. The older parts, however… (GEAR UPDATES per tier are most important)

While I will update these ASAP (promise, hehe).
Here’s the important banger notes:

GEAR UPDATES? Any time I mention gear updates in the lower tiers, (except 0 to 60), IGNORE IT AND BUY SCRIP TIER GEAR INSTEAD.

A Realm Reborn Gear Scrip gear? NO SCRIP, my notes are still pretty valid.
Heavensward L50 Scrip gear?
NO SCRIP, my notes are still pretty valid.
Stormblood L60 Scrip gear: Augmented Keep tier IL200
Shadowbringers L70 Scrip gear: Landking tier IL350 (Offhand from L330)
Endwalker L50 Scrip gear: Landsaint – Guide already reflects this.

All of these upgrades are “good” until the end of their tier.
Get scrip by: Custom Deliveries and Collectables.

COLLECTABLES? Not only did the rotation / skill names change TWICE since SHB into EW, the entire System was overhauled pre-EW. Instead of rotating nodes with normal names, it’s SET NON-ROTATING RAREFIED materials. The rotation is also different, but somehow simpler. I’ll update a universal DoL Collectable / Rotation guide for this, instead of repeating myself 100 times.

TLDR: The old “everyday it changes” is OUT. Rarefied “set-in-stone” is in! Ignore mentions of OLD ROTATIONS AND SKILLS. I’ll remedy this ASAP

Endwalker tier is, of course, updated in this regard.

BEAST TRIBES? Each tier has a beast tribe you can use to level up, which I didn’t seem to note as I always blast through DoL super early… These are decent sources of EXP while also giving you some neat items.

A Realm Reborn: Ixal (DoL and DoH)
Heavensward: Moogle (DoL and DoH)
Stormblood: Namazu (DoL and DoH)
Shadowbringers: Qitari (DoL only)
Endwalker: Omicron (DoL only) – Guide already reflects this.

Please click on and read the above clicky box if you're leveling 01 to 79.

So you’re back to bending it over for the plants, leveling your Botanist 60 to 70!By popular demand, I will be adding more info for those whose gear is subpar comin’ in from Heavensward!

Botanist Leveling in Stormblood

Botanist Leveling: 60 to 61

If your gear is bad, or aren’t sure if your gear is up to par, read the little boxes below. Even if you had bad ass gear from 3.x, feel free to read on anyway for a little refresher course.

Help! My Botanist gear sucks! Playing catch up.

If you’re wearing anything LESS than or maybe EQUAL TO “Serpentskin Tier” from 3.x, you’re gonna have a bad time. The Stormblood Botanist Collectibles are near impossible without a super RNG rotation, and generally not worth your time.

To know for sure, you can try the “collectible practice node”, which is found in The Fringes, East End. Try to get 450 collectability on Gyr Abanian Wheat! If you can do it consistently, great! That means you can skip these little advice boxes.

The REAL TEST is trying it on the actual unspoiled node – use the “minimum 400 GP rotation” in the next box. If you cannot gather with that… I’m sorry.

Collectibles refresher, rotation, etc...

If you’ve forgotten, you must visit and REVEAL the item on your first visit to any node, including unspoiled ones. So you’re likely gonna try these on your second time around.

Minimum 400 GP Pleb Rotation:
Hit the correct slot to reveal:
Collector’s Glove
Utmost Caution > Methodical Appraisal
Utmost Caution > Methodical Appraisal
Methodical Appraisal until you reach anything higher than 450
Collect what’s left… get sad when you miss.

600 GP? Try the “good ol feel your way first” rotation:
Hit the correct slot to reveal:
Collector’s Glove
Discerning Eye > Methodical Appraisal
Discerning Eye > Methodical Appraisal
Discerning Eye > Methodical Appraisal
Collect

Smashed the node with 500+? Try getting another hit in…

+1 Collect Rotation
Hit the correct slot to reveal
Collector’s Glove
Discerning Eye > Methodical Appraisal
Discerning Eye > Methodical Appraisal
Single Mind > Methodical Appraisal
Collect

Hopefully, the above helps you out. Personally, I don’t care for RNG rotations (so I won’t be listing them here) this early on. If you have to heavily rely on RNG to “maybe” succeed only to see “You obtain nothing.” is not for me.

600 GP!? I don’t have that!

Moreover, if you do not have 600 GP, your chances drop greatly. You can buy food from the Kugane Culinarian NPC (X12 Y12~) to increase your GP! At level 63, you SHOULD update your right-side (accessories) to more easily get the 600GP practical “minimum”, or at least hit 600 without having to pop food… that’s depressing.

When does it get better? :(

It will get progressively better at 61, 62, and 63 with a little investment into gear. At 62 or 63 you should be “near full power” and leveling will be WAY FASTER from that point on.

I’ll post the gear update a little bit down there at the 61 section, where the upgrades begin.

What do I do in the meantime?

GC Submissions: are thankfully not too expensive or difficult for 60~ Botanist. Gather them yourself as long as you have a decent chance at HQ’ing. If they’re within your budget – buy ‘em. No matter what you do, don’t let this just EXPIRE… submit NQ’s if you MUST!!!!!

L60 BTN Levequests: Take the levequests from Kugane, smash ‘em and repeat. Generally speaking, you can avoid the “Gather 40” leves as they’re the most time consuming, and give the least EXP. (Avoid the levequests with the Lalafell Merchant leve plate). For most, this is the best solution to get out of this hell ASAP.

Straight up grinding: The best (“ONLY”) Stormblood Botanist nodes to grind in this scenario are found in The Fringes – East End. It contains Gyr Abanian Wheat (many Culinarians use this to spam a certain levequest), and Bloodhemp, which is mainly used in 60-62 Weaver recipes.

Get a little value here and there....

Use up your Commercial Survival Manuals in stretches of grinding (60 to 61 is a prime use). Sometimes people hold on to these waaaay too long.

Eat food +3% EXP and + Stats: (primarily GP!), You can buy Trappers Quiche cheap in Ishgard, or check the Gathering food from the Kugane Culinarian (X:12 Y:12~).

Buy Cordials. They reduce the wait time for GP by quite a bit! Market Board or from your Grand Company supplier.

Again, for those with bad gear – this grind heavy road to 61 is the absolute best time to use your Commercial Survival Manuals!

It won’t be fast or easy, but it beats spending a metric ton of gil on “previous tier good gear”.

From here on out, you can “test” your gear at the respective practice node to see if you can reliably reach the minimum collectability. You can also turn ‘em in for decent EXP (it’s an alternative way to grind more speedily).

What to grind? BTN 60 to 61

Just stay in The Fringes, and farm Gyr Abanian Wheat and/or Bloodhemp, both of which are in the same node.

Gyr Abanian Wheat is popular. A certain CUL levequest uses it as a SOLE COMPONENT, and lots of people abuse the bejesus out of that leve.

Bloodhemp is mainly used in low level weaver leveling.

Or simply grind what’s most expensive in the market board.

This is THE ONLY STORMBLOOD NODE you can gather right now.

If you’re part of the “gear is bad” pile, levequests are an amazing way to speed up the process.

Upon reaching BTN 61: You unlock Impulsive Appraisal II, which gives you a scaling chance based on Perception (relative to the node requirements, I feel) to activate Discerning Eye. It’s main purpose is to break the “softcap” of appraisal on nodes you HEAVILY outgear. A great quality of life skill, and gives a huge incentive for Botanists to tryhard on their gear.

Botanist Leveling: 61 to 62

First of all, hitting L61 unlocks quite a few nodes! But before that – the gear upgrades start! If you do NOT upgrade your gear, then I cannot vouch for the effectiveness of this guide, or how painful the process will be for you going forward.

Botanist Gear: Upgrade Summary

Get HQ gear! Buy NQ only if you are broke! Reduce cheap melds to III as well.

Cheap melds can be anything, really. Read the box below for some more insights.

BTN Level 61 Gear upgrade notes

As you can see, majority of these come out at 61. This list is roughly based on “power”. As you can see, not all slots are equal! In terms of L61 items the Chest piece is godlike compared to the Hat and Gloves. Boots and legs are “okay”, while belt gives a trash amount of stats.

I recommend getting all of ‘em still, but if you can only upgrade certain pieces at a time, it’s worth noting WHICH ONES ARE BETTER.

Melding? Just please be “wary” of how much Perception you need to hit the minimum appraisal ratings. Feel free to force meld III’s, or change it up regarding your needs. This is what I melded as they were cheap, but served me very well in the many levels to come.

The BARE MINIMUM: If you’re noticing that you get like, 445 appraisal rating – DON’T BE AFRAID TO CHEAPLY OVER MELD or eat Perception food. Don’t just GIVE UP!!!! However, my upgrade path and cheap melds gave me little problems.

However, you ain’t out of the woods yet. Without the Main Hand or Offhand, collectibles might be rough. Remember the practice node!

The very second you hit 62: Sell your soul to get an HQ 62 Main Hand:
High Steel Hatchet!!! This greatly helps the catching up!

61 Unlocks another unspoiled collectible, so now you have two. The question is, CAN YOU GATHER THEM? Heh.

What to grind? BTN 61 to 62

Lots of nodes to choose from. I feel bad suggesting only one so…

Ruby Cotton Boll (LOCATION) is likely the “best”, as its used by Weavers AND Culinarians as a SOLE COMPONENT to popular spammable levequests in their class.

Aside from this, any log is good. Beech Log (The Fringes, X10,Y17 | X12,Y18 | X10,Y13) is popular due to it directly being a SOLE COMPONENT levequest submission for CRP.

If you’re too weak for these nodes, grind anything appropriate – look at the previous tiers’ grindlist.

Level 60 Botany Levequests

Since I split this tier into two, the levequests remain the same…

Botanist Leveling 62 to 64

I sure hope you took my earlier advice and bought the HQ High Steel Hatchet.

Spending Red Gatherer's Scrip

Soon enough, you will have a pile of these. If you don’t already have a pile. Don’t just let them overflow, man.

Go to Rhalgr’s Reach to see what you can buy with ’em. Since the end-game is not yet released I don’t know what to buy yet. I’m guessing Regional Folklore Tomes is your best bet.

Feel free to spend on Commercial Survival Manual.

BTN Collectibles @ 62- 64

This tier does NOT unlock any new collectibles, so I’ll just put the same references:

STOP ONCE YOU REACH 63! Class Quest & Accessory Update

Upon reaching BTN 63: Unlocks trait Enhanced Stealth VIII. Thank god.

Do your class quest!

You gain EXP and get a NQ High Steel Scythe for your troubles. You can buy / craft an HQ Scythe if you like, but I didn’t need it (I used exactly the gear in the earlier table).

Where’s the Botanist Class Quests in Stormblood? They should be in Idyllshire. If you haven’t done them in a while, check in with Fufucha in Old Gridania Botanists’ Guild!

Upon completing BTN 63 class quest: You unlock Leaf Turn III, which gives you a scaling HQ bonus depending on Perception (relative to the node requirements, I feel). It’s amazing for gathering the old school nodes (or any node you severely overgear).

GP Problems? Be gone! ACCESSORY UPDATE

Once your Botanist levels to 63, you open up the Gyuki Leather tier accessories. With these, you will be at a base value of 650~ GP! Hopefully most of your problems vanish at this point.

Notably with 650 GP You can add Field Mastery I to your Collectible gathering!

I CHEAP MELDED PERCEPTION PRIORITY because you’re going to enter a new tier of collectibles soon. Feel free to overmeld ANY III’s. You might be better off leaving them open, and melding whatever it is to cover your weak points.

What to grind? BTN 62 to 64

Well, the same nodes are available from the pre 62 chunk. And I’ve described their usefulness above. Just to remind ‘ya…

  • Ruby Cotton Boll is overall best, I feel.
  • Beech Logs are great. Larch Logs.

Ultimately, grind whatever’s most expensive!

I personally gathered every node in the Gathering Log at this point.
To prevent hassle in the future. I got at least 10 each and sold them on the MB.

The “King” Leve Plate is “32 or Fail”, meaning you must get 32 gathers of you fail, and either way you must completely gather 8 nodes. It’s one of the not so good types. However, if you do try out the levequest “Pining“, its pretty cool since it’s an underwater leve! Tip: Look up.

If you followed the upgrades and value moves up to this point, there is virtually no more “I’m using scrub tier gear” excuse.
From here it’s man mode.
