Miner and Botany Skills Guide for FFXIV (2024)

This guide covers all of the skills for Mining and Botany whileexplaining the uses and value of each skill, so you know what skillsare best and worth using to get more items.

While leveling Miner and Botanist, you will gain many skills that will assist you withyour gathering endeavours. Many of these skills might have different names and iconsfor either class but function in the same way. This guide will cover that.

For convenience, the skills have been grouped by their purposesand have then been sorted in leveling order. You canalways refer to your 'Actions & Traits' tab to see what skill is unlocked next.

Miner and Botanist have gained 1 new skill with the release of Dawntrail and 2new traits which shake up collectables. No skills have been removed or adjustedeither.

Priming Touch	Skill	95	100GP	Doubles the chance your next use of Meticulous Prospector/Woodsman will not affect integrity. Does not affect increased chance from gathering point bonuses or Collector's High Standard.	A really cheap skill that helps to increase the reliability of Meticulous.
Revisit	Trait	91	N/A	After exhausting a gathering point's resources, occasionally restores all integrity and gathering attempts. GP is also fully restored, but all gatherer effects expire. Effect cannot be triggered by certain gathering points such as those found in levequests.	An incredibly powerful skill allowing you to essentially gain all of your GP back for free and double your yield on a node. There are some exceptions to what nodes can trigger this. The exact % chance is not stated either.
Collector's High Standard	Trait	100	N/A	Occasionally upgrades the effect of Collector's Standard to Collector's High Standard, guaranteeing Brazen Prospector/Woodsman increases collectability with maximum effectiveness. Chance Meticulous Prospector/Woodsman does not affect integrity is increased by 40%.	This trait can help save a lot of yield both by increasing the reliability of Meticulous but also guaranteeing Brazen giving you 300 collectability. While Collector's Standard procs at a roughly 10-20% success depending on the type of node. It is not know how often this trait will trigger.

These skills will assist you in finding nodes while youare out gathering in the open world.

• Prospect/ Triangulate make nodes visible.
• Lay of the Land/ Arbor Call will show you the nearest node.This might not always be the node you want, so be sure to check yourGathering Log for a desired item's location.
• Lay of the Land II/ Arbor Call II will show you the highest levelnode that is nearby. This is similar to the original skill, and it will notalways show you what you are looking for.
• Sneak can be used while mounted as you travel to a node.
• Truth of Mountains/ Truth of Forests is required whengoing for many types of timed nodes, including Unspoiled and Legendary nodes.Without using this, you cannot see the node.
• Luck of the Mountaineer/ Luck of the Pioneer can be unlockedfrom your class quests and is useful for gathering maps.

On top of that, some of these location skills can be cross classed, meaningyou can use them on any gathering class. This is super handy when you need togather items from both classes or when waiting for a timed node to spawn.

Simply put, these skills increase your chance to gather items. Once you have thestats to hit 100% HQ chance, these skills become obsolete. You can arguablytake them off your hotbars until a future expansion.

• Sharp Vision/ Field Mastery gives a 5% increase to yourchance to gather. I would not say it is very useful.
• Sharp Vision II/ Field Mastery II gives an increased 15% chance.Generally, this is going to be the one you use most.
• Sharp Vision III/ Field Mastery III gives a massive 50% chance.You will very rarely need this skill.
• Clear Vision/ Flora Mastery stacks with the other skillsthat increase your chance. Outside of that, it is not very useful.

Most of your useful skills will be listed here, and any skill with a differentname can be stacked together for increased yield benefits. Generally, this ishow players optimize their GP on a node.

• Bountiful Yield/ Bountiful Harvest increases yield by oneand upgrades directly into the second version of this skill.
• Solid Reason/ Ageless Words is not used very often in normalnodes but is useful for collectables. At level 83, this also hasa 50% chance to give the buff Eureka Moment, which is used on Wise to the World.
• King's Yield/ Blessed Harvest is useful until you hit the GPrequirements for the second version of this skill.
• King's Yield II/ Blessed Harvest II should be used often. It is oneof your strongest yield skills because it scales very well with nodesthat give increased attempts.
• Bountiful Yield II/ Bountiful Harvest II is unlocked from yourclass quests. You can gain 1-3 yield depending on your gathering.
• Wise to the World gives you another gathering attempt but onlywhen you obtain the Eureka Moment buff. This has a 50% chance to appearwhen Solid Reason/ Ageless Words is used.

These are skills that exclusively impact your Gatherer's Boon by changingits chance or the yield obtained. It currently seems like these skills arenot as beneficial as some of the yield skills in most situations.

• Mountaineer's Gift I/ Pioneer's Gift I increasesyour boon by 10% as long as the chance is above 0%.
• Mountaineer's Gift II/ Pioneer's Gift II increasesthe boon by 30%. It does not stack with the first iteration of thisskill.
• Nald'thal's Tidings/ Nophica's Tidings increases the yieldobtained from the boon by 1.

These are the skills exclusively used in gathering shards, crystals, andclusters because they provide massive yields to these items.

• The Twelve's Bounty can be used without cooldown on each node.
• The Giving Land has a cooldown but will give more yield than The Twelve's Bounty. The amount you will obtain is random.

These are the skills used only for the collectable system. You can use themdirectly from your hotbar or from the collectable UI itself, which cansave you some hotbar space.

• Scour is your 'default' collectable skill andis what the rest of the skills scale themselves on.
• Brazen Prospector/ Brazen Woodsman is not an idealskill to use because of its RNG, making it unreliable at times. It canbe great while leveling if you do not have high stats becauseyou can get lucky and hit collectability ratings you otherwise could not.
• Meticulous Prospector/ Meticulous Woodsman is your 'main'skill, so to speak. You want to hope for the additional benefit ofextra yield giving you more items and, therefore, more scrips.
• Scrutiny's tooltip says it scales based on your Perception, but itactually scales based on both Gathering and Perception.
• Collector's Focus increases collectors intuition by 75%.Given the cap is 40%, at this cap this means you can obtain a 70% chance to trigger intuition.
• Priming Touch can be useful whenever you have spare GP forMeticulous Prospector/Woodsman.
